October 6, Tour of SE Corner of Kruger with LOTS of Surprises

I never would have anticipated seeing more than one leopard on our tour of Kruger, but today we saw FOUR more!  We had two different cats napping in large trees with their Impala kill on a limb close by.  And then while eating lunch outside near the Sabie River, we had two more beautiful cats; one that wandered out onto the gravel bar and created a mass exodus of dozens of Impala.  Are we lucky, or what!?  Last evening on our night drive with the park service we added lions - 3 females - to our mammals list, and then observed an additional 6 today.  Giraffes, hippos, and elephants were plentiful also.  But according to Brenden, the African Wild Dogs, of which we had 4 snoozing alongside the road this afternoon, was the best mammal sighting due to their threatened status.  This canine is known as the painted wolf, a very fitting name it seems.  We added about 24 species of birds today.  We will head north in the park tomorrow to explore some new types of habitat, and with continuing luck may add Cheetah and Ostrich to our trip lists.  The first 3 photos are fairly obvious, with the fourth one being a Purple Roller and the next one being the African Wild Dogs.
