October 8, Last Day @ Kruger

We began the day at 5:30am again with a little bit of birding around the "camp" where we're staying.  The rest of the day was spent doing some catch-up work, attempting to find a few bird species we've missed the last 3 days.  We also attempted to stay cool in 115* heat!!!  When we booked our tour of Kruger we contemplated going with an open-air vehicle rather than the VW van we chose - we're all SO thankful we didn't, as we would have been convection oven baked each day.  We've talked with a few of the staff here, and the 100+ degree weather they've been having this past week is NOT normal for this time of year.  So birding wise, we definitely reached a plateau, only finding 4 new bird species today, but we have the feeling the heat may have had something to do with that, PLUS the fact that Brenden has been a real work horse - finding so many of the species within the first 2 days here.  We have a 5 hour drive to Johannesburg tomorrow where we'll say goodbye to Brenden after a fantastic 8 days with him.
Photos are of a Hamercop, a  Greater Blue-eared Starling, a white rhinoceros, a common warthog, and a wonderful Kruger sunset from atop a granite koppi.
